Find Us!An old engineers’ joke claims that anything that is moving but shouldn’t be can be fixed with duct tape and anything that isn’t moving but should be can fixed with WD40. When it comes to garage door maintenance, a little squirt of lubricant goes a long way. However, year round exposure to the elements will eventually take its toll on your garage doors. Here are our top tips for maintaining your doors this winter.
Visual Inspection
Take a good look at your door in the open and closed positions. Does anything look or sound different from when it was installed? Look for signs of wear on the mounting and tracks.
Door Balance Test
Disconnect your automatic door opener and lift the door manually to the open position. Does it sit there comfortably? If not, it may be out of balance and will need rebalancing by a professional.
Lubricate
Give any rollers, cables, tracks and hinges a liberal spray with WD40. This will keep everything running smoothly and also has a water-repellent property that will slow down corrosion.
Stain
If your doors are timber but have seen better days, why not stain them a new colour? Buy your wood stain in bulk and you can do all your timber door and window frames as well to give a cohesive look to your home.
