Upgrade Your Front Door To Reduce Heat Loss

When it comes to keeping your house warm in winter, insulation is the key. In a well insulated house, you can keep the thermostat down, safe in the knowledge that the heat being radiated from the radiators is going to stay in the room. Most heat is lost through the roof and the windows and people recognise this and reduce the loss by installing loft insulation and double glazing. However, you should also think about upgrading your front door.

A good front door must be:

  • Break-in Resistant: We are all concerned about property security and a front door mustn’t be a weak point that allows a potential burglar into your home.
  • Thermally Efficient: It is on this second point that the traditional timber door falls down. A traditional timber door has such a low U-value (the unit by which heat loss is measured) that it will not meet the government insulation standards for new-build properties. A modern composite door is filled with insulating foam that stops the heat from escaping.

At Automated Garage Doors and Gates Ltd, we only supply and install the highest quality front doors that exceed the above criteria. Our range of FrontGuard doors have multiple point locking and shatterproof double glazing as standard - so security need not be an issue. And when it comes to thermal efficiency, these doors should really help you keep the thermostat (and your bills) down. The doors have frames and seals engineered to minimise heat loss and insulation is built into the very fabric of the door.

If you have any questions about how much you are likely to save by installing an insulated FrontGuard front door, give us a call on 01603 787069 or drop into our showroom where a member of our sales team will be able to help you.
