Find Us!Your garage door control is the device that tells the operating mechanism to open and close the automated door. You have a few different options available to you. Your choice will probably depend on where you stand in the trade-off between convenience and security. This in turn will probably depend on what you are storing in your garage and how many people need access to it.
Handheld Transmitters
The simplest and most popular choice of garage door control, at least for domestic garages in regular use, is the handheld transmitter. This is a remote control for your garage door. At the touch of a button, your door will open allowing access for you and your vehicle. It is possible to link the garage door control to other things that will be controlled from the same transmitter – such as exterior lights or an automated folding-arm awning.
Transponder Switches
Sometimes a few people need access to the same garage at different times. In this instance, it might make sense to issue them with a transponder switch. These small electronic devices attach to a keyring and instruct the door to open when waved in front of a reader attached to the exterior of your garage.
Digital Keypads
Upping the security level a bit, it is possible to have a digital keypad as the interface between you and your garage door. Only people that know the PIN will be able to access your garage. This is especially suited to work environments. In the event of a staff changeover, you can alter the access code so that only employees who currently work for you can enter your garage.
Fingerprint Scanners
Upping the security level a lot, you can opt for a fingerprint scanner that will only open your garage door when presented with your unique fingerprint.
