The Door & Hardware Federation conducted a survey and found that 75% of garages in new homes are "too small" to accommodate today's larger cars. According to DHF, developers still design and build new homes with 7ft wide doors, which has been the standard width for the past 40 years. Due to cars getting increasingly wider, it causes difficulty for them to fit into a garage. DHF have said that all garage doors need to be at least 7ft 6ins to accommodate bigger vehicles.
